I welcome you to the most dynamic package of masters races in Australia. SAMCA will be hosting the 19th Edition of the Classic Adelaide Masters Series (CAMS) starting Saturday 14th January 2018.
Thank you to Barry Taylor, Chief Referee, for CAMS & the team of referees, our officials, marshals & many volunteers for helping to make these events work so well.
Start lists are now available, click the link at the end of each event below
*************** PLEASE NOTE - ALL EVENTS WILL START AT 9AM ********************
This year the event is timed to preceed the TDU in Adelaide to allow participans to then follow the tour at their leisure. It has evolved over the years to provide many locals and travellers the opportunity to enhance their experience of the TDU by participating in some of the best Veterans racing Adelaide has to offer.
This year SAMCA are offering 3 great events as the hill climb has been dropped from the series:
The first event is the criterium race (Grades A-F) at Victoria Park, hosted by the VLCC. This will be held on Saturday morning.
The Road Race (Grades A-F depending on numbers) hosted by the SDVLCC will feature the McLaren Vale wine region in all its splendour. The course selected is the same as last year. It has some climbing, Strava profile, but no mountains, and remains nevertheless challenging. The descents are smooth and safe, and plenty of flat riding on quiet roads.
The ITT remains in the area on course 4 (NOTE, this is a change from the original course to offer competitors a safer race course). The TT distance is 19.9km. The start will be outside the Vinpac winery and the finsh along Blewitt Spring road as indicated on the map and the profile is here on Strava
There will be 5 year age groups and Age groups & Top 10 age adjusted
Great prize money is on offer, along with the chance of meeting and making new friends in the AVCC network.
Also, SAMCA wishes to advise all competitors in the CAMS 2018 Series that they will receive an introduction package of a Musette bag containing among other items the race programme. For those that are able to attend on Thursday 11th January 2018 these will be presented at the McLaren Flat Community Club, Kangarilla Road from 4pm until 6pm. The club will be open to visitors and those dedicated riders to participate in a Time Trial that evening.
And of course, there is the overall trophy to the rider who wins the most points
This event is one of the premier events on the cycling calendar so be part of it.
To participate in the event, you MUST have a current AVCC racing licence, so please make sure you have yours
SAMCA cannot accept any club trial or "come and try" day licences
